Yes, you read the title right. The folks at MSN and Yahoo have teamed up to make both their IM protocols interoperable. People from Yahoo and MSN are now able to chat with one another.
Shortly after the news broke out, Scott Werndorfer of Cerulean Studios released a statement which in part said: "We're very excited about this, as we've always been big supporters of interoperability in any form. [and] [w]e are working on ensuring that Trillian users can take advantage of this new functionality ASAP!"
It will be interesting to see how this affects the rest of the IM market. Could it be possible that AIM/ICQ will someday interoperate with the likes of Google Talk and MSN/YIM? Hopefully so!
